INKS LAKE STATE PARK ~ TEXAS

Inks Lake State Park offers family fun on water and land. With its sparkling blue water, colorful rock outcrops, and striking sunsets, this gem of the Hill Country is just an hour northwest of Austin. Inks Lake State Park is a park located in Burnet County, Texas, next to Inks Lake on the Colorado River.    

My sister and I drove through the park and took a few pictures but it was raining so we didn't stay long.  We did drive around the park to look over the camping areas and see what the park had to offer.  Working at state park, I always take notice of maintenance of buildings and grounds and this park seemed to be well maintained.

We went into the visitors center to ask if we had to pay to just drive through the place.  We had not planned to do more than drive through and see what was there.   They gave us a 30 minute pass which was nice since other places required the full fee even if you didn't plan to get out of your vehicle.

Things to Do
Inks Lake State Park is great for a day trip or a weekend getaway. Because the lake’s level usually stays constant, you can play here year-round.

• Swimming – there are many places to swim and they also rent paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, life vest, and paddles at the park store.

• Hiking – there are several hiking trails around the lake or check out Devil’s Waterhole and hike the small canyon or swim at Devil’s Waterhole. When Valley Spring Creek is running, you can explore scenic waterfalls upstream of the lake.

• Camping – They have 200 campsites and 22 cabins. 

• Fishing – there are two fishing piers, fish cleaning stations, and a boat ramp.  You do not need a fishing license to fish from a pier or the shore in a state park.

You can also buy food and supplies inside the park. The park store sells snacks, camping supplies and souvenirs.
