Bardo National Museum in Tunis – Part 2

This is part 2 of our visit to Bardo National Museum.  If you missed Part 1, you can see it HERE.

When we arrived at the Bardo National Museum, it was filled with students.  There are certain days of the week that they get in free so it was packed with young men and women along with other tour groups.
The young girl in the yellow head piece was the first to approach my daughter.  The girl didn’t speak English, but she held out her cell phone indicating that she wanted to have her picture made with Heather.  After a friend took their picture, another group of girls came over to have their picture made.  Soon there was a line of boys and girls waiting to have their picture made with the “Americans.”
The children were very sweet and well behaved.  Some wore the more traditional clothing while others wore clothing similar to what we wear her in the US.
You would think we were movie stars the way the girls reacted to us.  It wasn’t long before I had my arms around some of the girls having my picture made.   As you can see, my daughter had a great time and I would have to say this was my favorite moment in Africa.

Since I giving you little peeks of what it was like actually touring the museum, I wanted to show you this picture.  The museum restroom was extremely nice and clean but there was a long line.  Before you actually get into a bathroom stall containing the toilet, you need to get  your toilet tissue.  It’s located next to the hand dryer by the sinks.  Try to picture a long line of ladies standing there holding toilet paper in their hands and you get the idea.  This is just of the differences between Europe and the US.  There are also no seats to sit on once you get a stall!

Ok, back to more pictures of the museum….

The national museum of Bardo is housed in a former palace of the husaynid beys(provincial governors). It is arranged in sections covering the Carthaginian, Roman early Christian and Islamic eras.
