A Return Visit to Iberostar Cozumel

After several visits to Cozumel, we already knew that booking a cruise excursion wasn’t the experience we were looking for. Instead, we chose to return to a place we had previously loved—the Iberostar Cozumel Resort. This visit confirmed why it remains one of our favorite ways to spend a port day on the island.

Docking in Cozumel and heading out on our own allowed us to move at a relaxed pace, enjoy familiar surroundings, and truly unwind.

Getting There: Taxi from the Cruise Port

Rather than booking through the cruise line, we took a taxi directly from the port to Iberostar Cozumel. Taxis were easy to find, clearly marked, and straightforward. Traveling this way gave us flexibility and saved time compared to organized excursions.

For anyone comfortable navigating independently, a taxi is a simple and stress-free option.

First Impressions on a Return Visit

Returning to Iberostar felt instantly familiar. The resort grounds were clean, lush, and beautifully maintained, with tropical landscaping that immediately set a calm, welcoming tone.

Even after having been here before, the atmosphere stood out—peaceful, uncrowded (it became more crowded in the afternoon), and thoughtfully designed to encourage guests to slow down and enjoy their surroundings.

A Breakfast Worth Lingering Over

One of the standout memories from our visit—again—was the buffet. The selection was extensive, beautifully presented, and full of fresh options. From fruit and smoothies to hot dishes, it felt more like a leisurely vacation breakfast than a quick meal during a port stop.

Wildlife & Unexpected Moments

One of the most charming aspects of Iberostar Cozumel is the wildlife that freely wanders the property. Flamingos, parrots, peacocks, iguanas, and other animals add a unique, almost storybook feel to the resort.

The Perfect Place to Unwind

One thing we really loved about the resort was how many relaxing spaces were included with the day pass. Guests could unwind in hammocks tucked beneath the palm trees, lounge in comfortable beach chairs by the pools or ocean, or stretch out on the resort’s beach beds while enjoying the tropical views and ocean breeze. There were plenty of places to relax throughout the property, making it easy to spend the entire day soaking up the laid-back island atmosphere.

Entertainment & Activities

In addition to the pools and beach, the resort offered a variety of planned activities and entertainment throughout the day and evening. Guests could participate in pool games, fitness activities, live entertainment, and family-friendly events organized by the staff.

The atmosphere at the resort felt lively without being overwhelming, making it a great option for couples, families, and cruise visitors looking to enjoy a relaxing all-inclusive getaway in Cozumel.

Why Iberostar Still Feels Like a Great Value

After our visit, I once again found myself looking into Iberostar’s accommodations. The affordability of staying here—especially considering the setting, service, and amenities—continues to be surprising.

For travelers who enjoy a laid-back, nature-focused atmosphere, Iberostar Cozumel offers excellent value beyond just a day pass.

Final Thoughts: Would We Do This Again?

Absolutely. Returning to Iberostar Cozumel reminded us why independent planning can be so rewarding. Skipping the cruise excursion, taking a taxi, and spending the day somewhere we already loved made for a relaxed, enjoyable port day with no pressure and no rushing.

If you’ve been to Cozumel before and are looking for a familiar, peaceful escape, Iberostar is well worth considering again.
