CURACAO - A UNIQUE CARIBBEAN ISLAND

Don't you just love the colors of the buildings in the photo above?  This photo was taken by my sister at her blog  Live Life Be Happy.  While you are there, check out some of her other travel destinations.  She has tons of information on Florida Beaches along with beautiful photos and descriptions.  It's perfect for those wanting to vacation in Florida but haven't decided on a destination.

If you missed the other posts about countries visited on this cruise.......Aruba ~ Grand Turk ~ Dominican Republic.

ENTERING THE COUNTRY

Generally tourists holding a valid passport may enter Curaçao without a written permit and remain with us for a period of up to 90 days. However, several nationalities (e.g. Cuba, Haiti, Peru) must present a tourist visa as part of our entry requirements. A visa should be applied for at least one month in advance at any representation of the Netherlands (in the concerning country). US visitors require a passport to get back into the USA.

You can get more information HERE.

CURRENCY

Curaçao currency is the Antillean guilder (also called the florin), which is abbreviated as Nafl.  Ang. U.S. dollars circulate freely, so it is possible to get by using only American dollars or credit cards. Please note that vendors can rarely supply Curaçao money in U.S. currency.

COUNTRY

Curaçao, as of 10-10-2010, is an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Locals have Dutch nationality and carry European Union passports.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

CURAÇAO APP

Curaçao's travel app, the aptly titled Curaçao App works mainly offline so you avoid roaming charges. The app is available in Dutch and English and offers an interactive and zoomable map, complete with links to various points of interest.

The listing includes accommodations, restaurants, shops, happy hours, events, dive locations, car rentals, activities, Wi-Fi hotspots, important phone numbers, currency converter, wheelchair friendly locations and much more.
