On my first trip to Malta, I was fascinated by how much history seemed to be tucked into every corner of the island. Even when we were simply driving through, there was always something that caught my eye.
Malta is also closely connected to the story of St. Paul. According to tradition, St. Paul was shipwrecked on the island during his voyage from Caesarea to Rome. Many scholars have identified the island mentioned in the biblical account as Malta, and the Maltese people believe that St. Paul played an important role in bringing Christianity to the island.

I did not have the opportunity to really explore this area on that first visit. We were passing through, so I simply snapped a few photos from the car as we went by.
At the time, I had no idea that Malta would not be a one-time visit for me. I would return to the island on a later trip and have the chance to see more of this fascinating place.
For now, these few photos are my little glimpse of Malta from that first visit.
