ROBBIE'S OF ISLAMORADA - VOTED #1 PLACE TO VISIT IN THE KEYS

You can't go to the Florida Keys without stopping at Robbie’s in Islamorada.  Discover the thrill of hand-feeding tarpon, engage in exhilarating water sports, and explore charming local shops offering handcrafted souvenirs. Indulge in fresh seafood, sip on signature cocktails or local draft beer.

HIGHIGHTS OF VISITING ROBBIE'S

Feeding the Tarpon: The Star Attraction

One of the most exciting things to do at Robbie's is the world-famous tarpon feeding. Imagine standing on the dock, with the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean stretching out before you, as massive tarpon swim up to feed right from your hands.

Let me say that this can be a daunting task.  The tarpon that frequent Robbie's docks for feeding can range anywhere from 4 feet to over 6 feet in length!

We had to pay a $2 fee to even walk out on the dock. In my opinion it was well worth the money just to get up close and personal with the pelicans and tarpon.  There is also a fee ($3 I think) to get a bucket of fish to feed the tarpon if you are brave enough to stick you hands that close to the water.

Dodging the Pelicans

Pelicans are everywhere in Florida, but if you're visiting Robbie's, be cautious with a bucket of fish on a dock filled with these birds. They will try to snatch the fish, so keep your bucket close to your body or held high. If you have kids with you, make sure they don’t carry the bucket at all.

Water Sports and Adventure

For those craving more adrenaline-pumping activities, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the mangrove trails nearby, or hop on a jet ski for an exhilarating ride through the crystalline waters. Snorkeling and diving enthusiasts will find plenty to explore just offshore, with vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life.

Waterfront Dining

After feeding the tarpon, treat yourself to a meal at The Hungry Tarpon, Robbie's on-site restaurant. From conch fritters to mahi-mahi tacos, the menu is filled with local favorites that embody the flavors of the Keys. If you are not hungry, you may want to rest a bit and enjoy a beer.

Shopping

One of the things that makes Robbie's special is its eclectic mix of local artists and vendors. The marketplace is filled with unique art, jewelry, and crafts that reflect the colorful and carefree nature of the Keys. Whether you're picking up a hand-painted sign for your home or a funky piece of jewelry, the market is a fun place to browse and pick up one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
