I have been a longtime fan of P. Allen Smith, so when I had the opportunity to spend a day at Moss Mountain Farm, I couldn’t pass it up.
The day brought together Arkansas bloggers, farmers, makers, and local producers for an event celebrating the people and products of our state. We learned more about Arkansas Grown and Arkansas Made, sampled locally produced foods, and had the chance to see firsthand just how much work goes into bringing Arkansas-grown products from the farm to our tables.
Living on a family farm myself, this is something especially meaningful to me. I know how much work, time, and care goes into producing food, and I believe there is real value in knowing where our food comes from and supporting the farmers and small businesses in our own communities.
Celebrating Arkansas Grown & Arkansas Made
One of my favorite parts of the day was spending time with P. Allen Smith, fellow Arkansas bloggers, and some of the farmers, growers, and makers from around the state.
We also had the opportunity to sample a variety of Arkansas-made products and meet some of the people behind them.
And then there was this little truck.
Seriously—how cute is it? And even better, it had ice cream!
Goat Milk Cheese, Soap…and Fudge
One of the more memorable stops featured a variety of products made with goat milk, including cheese, lotions, soaps, and even fudge.
Yes, goat milk fudge.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but the fudge was incredibly rich and creamy. The macadamia nut fudge practically melted in my mouth, and naturally I had to try the cookies-and-cream flavor too.
It was one of those unexpected little discoveries that made the day so much fun.
Lunch was served inside the barn at long, beautifully decorated tables. I especially loved the simple cabbage centerpieces—they were such a clever choice for a farm gathering and looked perfect against the rustic tables.
