Hightower Springs, Florida: A Quiet Winter Visit to a Beautiful Natural Spring

Florida has plenty of famous springs, but some of my favorite discoveries have been the smaller places that we almost could have missed. Hightower Springs, located near Vernon in the Florida Panhandle, was one of those stops.

We visited in January, so the trees were bare and the landscape didn't have the lush green look you might expect from Florida. But none of that mattered once we saw the water. It was incredibly clear, with beautiful shades of blue and green that stood out against the winter landscape.

With its large, crystal-clear spring pool surrounded by trees and natural scenery, Morrison Springs is a popular destination for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and especially scuba diving.

The Ultimate Minnesota North Shore Road Trip: 12 Incredible Stops Along Lake Superior

 There are some road trips where the journey is just as memorable as the destinations, and Minnesota's North Shore is definitely one of them.

Following Highway 61 along the shores of Lake Superior, this scenic drive takes you past rugged cliffs, rocky beaches, waterfalls, historic lighthouses, quiet coves, charming small towns, and some truly incredible views.

During our trip, we explored the North Shore from Duluth all the way to Grand Portage near the Canadian border. Along the way, we stopped at waterfalls, walked along the rocky shoreline, visited historic lighthouses, discovered a black sand beach, and found several beautiful places that made us want to slow down and simply enjoy Lake Superior.

Walking into Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe feels like stepping straight into the video game world many of us grew up playing. After hearing so much about Universal’s newest theme park, we finally had the chance to visit Universal Epic Universe in June 2026. I went with my daughter and my 10-year-old grandson, and since this was our first visit, we were excited to experience everything the new park had to offer.

 After staying at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort several times, including our most recent visit last month, we can honestly say this resort continues to be one of our favorite places to stay at Universal Orlando.

What makes Cabana Bay different from many other theme park hotels is that it feels like a vacation destination by itself. While it is convenient to the parks, there is so much to do at the resort that you could easily spend a relaxing afternoon there without leaving the property.

As a huge fan of Jaws, I was especially excited to see Universal Studios Florida bring a little bit of Amity Island back to life for the film’s 50th anniversary. During the summer celebration, the San Francisco area of the park was transformed with nostalgic signs, nautical décor, vintage props, and plenty of photo opportunities that pay tribute to both the movie and the former Jaws attraction.

A temporary “Little Amity” area was created near Chez Alcatraz, giving fans a chance to step into an atmosphere that feels like a little piece of the old Amity Island has returned. From the hanging shark to the fishing boat and vintage truck, there are several spots worth seeking out if you love Jaws as much as I do.

If you’re looking for a beautiful place to experience some of Florida’s famous spring water, Ginnie Springs near High Springs is definitely worth putting on your list.

Ginnie Springs is known for its incredibly clear, turquoise water, peaceful river views, and its popularity with swimmers, snorkelers, kayakers, tubers, and scuba divers.

We visited in January, and it was a much quieter time to see the springs. There weren’t many campers around during our visit, but we did see several scuba divers exploring the crystal-clear water.

Even though we weren’t there during the busy summer season, it was easy to see why Ginnie Springs is such a popular destination.
