Silver Springs State Park is one of the largest artesian springs in the world. The springs are fed by more than 30 underwater vents, creating clear waters teeming with fish and aquatic life.
We explored several springs, and this one was by far the most crowded (we visited in January).

Hiking and Wildlife Watching: The park offers several nature trails, including the Silver Springs Trail, which is great for hiking and birdwatching. Keep an eye out for native wildlife, such as wild turkeys, deer, and a variety of birds. The tranquil atmosphere of the park makes it perfect for an afternoon walk or even a picnic.
Kayaking and Canoeing: If you prefer a more hands-on experience, renting a kayak or canoe to explore the springs is a great option. You can paddle through the waters, taking in the lush scenery and wildlife along the way. Rentals generally range from $20 to $40 per hour.
Silver River Museum & Environmental Education Center
If you would like to learn more about the region’s history and ecology, don’t miss the Silver River Museum. Located within the park, this museum offers fascinating exhibits on the local environment, wildlife, and the history of the area’s Indigenous people and early settlers. Getting to Silver Springs
By Car: The easiest way to reach Silver Springs is by car. It’s located about 5 miles east of Ocala, FL. From Orlando, it’s roughly an hour and a half drive (around 75 miles) via I-75 North. Silver Springs State Park offers affordable entry fees:

$2 per person for pedestrians, cyclists, or extra passengers in a vehicle.
