Of all the lands we explored at Universal Epic Universe, Isle of Berk was my favorite.
Inspired by How to Train Your Dragon, this colorful Viking village immediately caught my attention. The buildings, rocky landscape, boats, water, dragons, and little Viking details make the whole area feel like you've stepped right into the world from the movies.
Welcome to Berk
Walking into Isle of Berk feels like arriving in a little Viking village.
Everything is colorful and playful, from the buildings and rooftops to the wooden walkways and surrounding landscape. There are so many details tucked into the area that I found myself wanting to stop and look around rather than rushing through.
And, of course, you can't have Berk without dragons!
The dragons and How to Train Your Dragon touches throughout the land are what really bring it together.
A Village Full of Details
Isle of Berk is one of those places where it's worth slowing down instead of simply walking from one attraction to another.
There are colorful buildings tucked around the village, rocky cliffs, water features, Viking-inspired decorations, and plenty of little details that help bring the world of Berk to life.
The setting also makes for some great photographs. The combination of the bright buildings, rugged landscape, water, and dragons gives the area a completely different look from the other lands at Epic Universe.
The Dragons of Berk
You don't have to be a How to Train Your Dragon expert to appreciate the dragons throughout the land.
They're incorporated into the environment in ways that make you feel as though you've wandered into their world.
For fans of Toothless and Hiccup, this is definitely an area where you'll want to keep your camera ready.
Seeing the characters and dragons incorporated into the land is one of the things that makes Isle of Berk feel so immersive.
The Attractions of Isle of Berk
While we mainly explored the land itself, Isle of Berk is also home to several attractions for visitors who want more than sightseeing.
The major attractions include Hiccup's Wing Gliders, Dragon Racer's Rally, and Fyre Drill. There's also The Untrainable Dragon live show and Viking Training Camp for younger visitors.
So even though we didn't experience all of these during our visit, there's plenty here to keep families busy beyond simply exploring the village.
Exploring Berk
For me, one of the best parts of visiting Isle of Berk was simply walking around and seeing how everything fit together.
Epic Universe does a great job of making each land feel like you've stepped into a completely different world, and Berk is no exception.
The Viking theme carries through the buildings, landscaping, decorations, and even the smallest details.
It's also a nice place to take a break from the bigger attractions and just enjoy the atmosphere for a while.
