I have mentioned our plans on all of my post about this cruise. We had grand plans for some islands like Barbados and no plans at all for islands like Antigua. St Kitts was another port where we didn't make any plans.
After a nice breakfast, we decided to get off in port and see what tours were available.
St Kitts port is located outside of the capital of Basseterre. If you are interested in shopping, downtown Basseterre is a five minute walk from the port.
This was the only port that we spent some time shopping and yes, I did purchase some chocolate that was almost too beautiful to eat.
We decided to take a taxi to Cockleshell beach. We found a couple of girls that also wanted to go and shared a taxi with them. The girls made a plan to have them pick us up in about 3 hours but we ended up leaving after a couple of hours and going to Frigate Bay.
This is Cockleshell Beach. There was a $5 charge for the chairs which was a reasonable price.
This looked like fun but at my age, I'm sure I would end up in the hospital.
SOUTH FRIGATE BAY
When we left Cockleshell Beach, we had the taxi drop us off at South Frigate Bay. He pulled into the drive of a resort, I don't remember the name, and dropped us off. To be honest, I didn't really care for the beach there so we decided to walk further down where there were no crowds.
And this is where I found my dream life which consist of me having enough money to quit my job and open up a business on the beach.
I ran across this abandoned building with this gorgeous view. It is already landscaped and there was a sign by the road that said this placed was called The Godfather.
Seriously, look at this view. Would you ever want to leave?
We enjoyed watching these adorable children playing. The oppressive heat didn't seem to bother them in the least.
No need to Yield........ just "Give Way."
Heading back to the ship after a great day at the beach and a little shopping.
TO KNOW
As I mentioned in my other post, there are plenty of people waiting just inside of the port to take you wherever your heart desires. Research the places you would like to visit and then ask the driver what the charges would be. If you don't like the price, ask someone else.
I have also mentioned the importance of traveling in a group setting if you are by yourself. It also makes the cost of the taxi cheaper. Be sure the clarify the price in advance and arrange for the driver to collect you at a set time.
CURRENCY
The official currency is the East Caribbean Dollar. However, the U.S. dollar is commonly accepted. The most convenient bank with an ATM is St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank on Central Street in Basseterre.
English is the official language
