One of the stops my sister and I made while traveling through the Texas Hill Country was at Wildseed Farms which is located on Highway 290 about 7 miles outside of Fredericksburg.
The farm has more than 1,000 cultivated acres in Texas and over 200 acres of wildflower fields at its Hill Country headquarters outside of Fredericksburg.
The parking lot was almost full when we arrived and the landscape was dotted with visitors milling about taking photos of the plethora of flowers.
I love these red, white, and blue bluebonnets.
Corn Poppies
I think this photo of the water lily is one of my favorite.
Not only was there fields of wildflowers but your could purchase potted plants. They have many local plants including bluebonnets, Indian blanket, purple cornflower, and Laura bush petunias. They also carry a large selection of ornamental grasses, tropicals, trees, cactus, and succulents, and Texas Natives.
Not only do they sell plants but also beautiful flower pots. I was surprised at how reasonable their prices were.
While visiting Wildseed Farms you will see Brewbonnet Biergarten where you can purchase wine, food, or canned fruits and vegetables.
Or how about a glass of wine?
You will also have the chance to visit Blossoms Boutique carrying unique gifts, clothing, jewelry, home decor, and wildflower seeds.
HOW TO GET THERE
Wildseed Farms is located 7 miles east of Fredericksburg (main street) mid way between Fredericksburg and Stonewall Texas.
GPS locaters use 425 Wildflower Hills, Fredericksburg, TX 78624.
TO KNOW
You don't need to carry any type of food or drink for this visit. There is a restaurant on site with light snacks or you can sit down and enjoy a glass of wine. They also have a variety of canned beverages.
WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY
Nothing, everything you need is there but don't forget your camera.
