VISITING THE SAGRADA FAMILIA - BARCELONA

The Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona and is a must-see if you are in the city.  This awe-inspiring basilica is the work of Antoni Gaudi. Construction on the Sagrada Família began over a century ago (1883) and is still ongoing.

It is no wonder that thousands of people choose to visit this attraction.   It is truly one of the best Antoni Gaudí works out there, together with Park Güell!

Unfortunately, unless you plan ahead, you may have a very long wait to get inside.  Since we wanted to explore more of Barcelona, we decided not to wait in line and just enjoy this magnificent piece of art from the outside.

TO KNOW

BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE

If seeing the inside of the Sagrada Familia is on your bucket list, purchase your tickets ahead of time.  Buy them at least a couple of weeks out in order to make sure your desired day and hour are available.

Another option would be to take a tour.  I have never booked a tour while in Barcelona so I can not recommend one but a google search should give you some options.  Be sure to read the reviews before booking.

HOW TO GET THERE

As a country girl from a small town in Arkansas, I find that using the Bus Tourista is the easiest way to get around Barcelona.  This is the only city where I use a tourist bus but it drops off and picks up at most tourist site and they run every few minutes.

Of course, you can walk from many destinations, take a taxi, or the metro.

TRAVELING DURING COVID19

Check the official website for any place to plan to visit.  Even though you may be allowed into the country, many tourist sites are closed to the public.  You can check out official information about the Sagrada Família HERE.
