St John's Pass ~ Madeira Beach, Florida

When we were looking for things to do on the east coast of Florida and John's Pass kept showing up.  I'm so glad we took the time to visit this quaint village.  We were not there long because  a storm was rolling in but I was there long enough to recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

Not only is it a visual pleasure to the senses, there are some amazing restaurants and a ton of shopping.

The "Pass", as locals refer to it, was created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848. A pirate, John Levique, made the first passage through the newly created pass. Hence the name, Johns Pass.

Located on the waterfront at Johns Pass, is a cute fishing village and is Pinellas County's #1 tourist attraction. There are over one hundred merchants sprinkled throughout the village including fishing, dolphin watching, boat rentals, parasailing, and jet skiing.

 PARKING

We parked in a six-story parking garage  on the south-west corner of John’s Pass (179 Boardwalk Place W, Madeira Beach, FL 33708) at the cost of $6 for 2 hours.  When researching information on John's Pass, I saw a lot of complaints about the cost of parking.  I understand that this could be expensive if you plan on spending the day there.

You could easily eat a meal and take a walk around the area in 2-4 hours. If you planned on going out on the water, I would check for current costs and parking areas before traveling.

DINING

Dining options are about what you would expect in a tourist location. There are some larger chain restaurants including Bubba Gump and Hooters but there are also a lot of local restaurants with something for every palate.
