WORTH THE STOP - ANNE'S BEACH IN THE FLORIDA KEYS

If you are headed down to the Florida Keys and looking for a place to get some great photos, Anne's Beach in Islamorada is a great place to stop and explore. It was was devastated by Hurricane Irma but reopened in 2019 with new boardwalks pavilions.

If you look on Trip Advisor, you will see a lot of negative comments about parking and the lack of actual beach.  We were there in January so we had not trouble finding a parking spot in the small parking area.

The beach has been described as "clay-like" and "muddy" which is pretty accurate.  It was also super slick, almost like walking on ice and I slid many times.

You can wade out quiet a distance and only be up to your knees.  The beach has little to no wave action and is very shallow which is perfect for young children and dogs.

ANNE’S BEACH

Location: There are 2 parking lots approximately 1/4 mile apart on US-1 at MM 73 at the southern end of Upper Matecumbe Key

Fully replaced after being destroyed by Hurricane Irma, Anne's Beach reopened on August 23, 2019. 300 feet of boardwalk, six pavilions and a restroom at the north parking lot.
