COSTA MAYA CRUISE PORT - NO SPEND EXCURSION

I am currently sitting in the port of Costa Maya, Mexico and wanted to share my experience of visiting the port without spending a single penny.

Unlike many other cruise ports, Costa Maya boasts a fantastic facility featuring pools, shopping areas, and serene spots for relaxation, all available at no charge.

Among its main attractions is a sizable pool with loungers set along an artificial beach, offering visitors the chance to cool off, soak in the bustling atmosphere of the port, and enjoy panoramic views of the cruise ships anchored nearby. It's entirely feasible to spend the entire day here, especially if you're seeking a hassle-free and budget-friendly experience. However, it's worth noting that during periods with multiple ships in port (there are 4 here today), the area can become quite crowded.

It can be a  long walk from the ship to the entrance to the port if you have mobility issues, but there is a free trolley that will take cruise passenger the length of the pier.

Swimming: The pool is free to all cruisers.  You can swim or relax on the beach chairs.  After you spend some time in the pool you can walk around and shop.

Relax: If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, you can find secluded spots within the cruise port area where you can relax, read a book, or simply enjoy the surroundings away from the crowds. Look for shaded areas with hammocks where you can relax and enjoy the tropical breeze. It's a perfect spot for some quiet time or a nap.

Flamingo Aviary: Nestled within the tropical port, a small sandbar hosts several majestic pink flamingos. Take advantage of the opportunity to observe these exquisite creatures up close and capture stunning photographs. The Flamingo Aviary Fountain, a recent addition to the Costa Maya cruise port, features an artificial lagoon adorned with a six-foot fountain and a wading pool. This serene habitat is home to approximately 6-8 flamingos, indigenous to the Yucatan Peninsula.

Watch Traditional Performances: Be sure to watch for cultural presentations taking place in the port vicinity. Frequently, local dancers or musicians grace visitors with performances, providing a complimentary glimpse into Mexican culture.

Photography: Costa Maya presents many opportunities for photography enthusiasts to capture breathtaking shots with its mesmerizing beaches, vibrant atmosphere, and picturesque, colorful buildings.

Attend a Tequila Tasting: Some shops in the port offer free tequila tastings. Even if you're not a big drinker, it can be an interesting cultural experience to learn about the different types of tequila produced in Mexico.

Explore the Port: Take a leisurely stroll around the port area. You'll find shops, restaurants, and bars. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, take in the local culture, and maybe even catch some live music or entertainment.

There are numerous additional activities available in the port, but they may come with a price tag. Some Include:

Shopping: The port area features numerous shops offering a variety of goods, including souvenirs, clothing, jewelry, local crafts, and more. You can explore the shops and find unique items to take home as mementos of your visit.

Restaurants and Bars: There are several restaurants and bars within the cruise port where you can enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink. You'll find options ranging from local cuisine to international fare, as well as bars serving cocktails, beer, and other beverages.

Massage and Spa Services: If you're looking to relax and unwind, you can indulge in massage and spa services available within the cruise port. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage, facial, or other wellness treatments offered by onsite spas.

Dolphin Discovery, with pools where shows and swimming with the aquatic mammals are the main features, is among the top attractions in the Costa Maya cruise terminal. Cost $79-$109.

Aviarius: Climb as high as you can and cross exciting hanging bridges to reach stunning habitats where the most beautiful and exotic birds of the Caribbean live.  There are eight habitats that are connected to each other by pending bridges. On each bridge, you will be able to discover and learn about some Caribbean species.  Admission is $14 Adults and $12 for children.

Excursions: You also have the option to back a last minute excursion at the Tour Dispatch area right inside of the port.
