REVIEW ON DAYS INN ~ GALVESTON, TEXAS

Image result for days inn galveston tx

Once we decided to stay in Galveston  the first night of our Texas Roadtrip, we started searching for a place to stay.  Since we had a very tight budget, we searched for the most inexpensive hotels we could find near the beach.

After reading a lot of reviews, we decided to stay at this Days Inn.  The rooms were clean and nicely decorated.  The bedding was comfortable and the rooms were well cooled.  The room also had a small refrigerator and microwave.

Exploring the Aquarium at Moody Gardens in Galveston

During our visit to Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, we spent some time exploring the Aquarium Pyramid. While I had been especially excited about seeing the Tropical Rainforest, my daughter actually enjoyed the Aquarium even more.

After visiting the rainforest, we made our way over to the Aquarium to see what was waiting for us beneath the pyramid.

Moody Gardens in Galveston: Tropical Rainforest

Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, had been on my travel bucket list for years. So when we decided to take a road trip along the Texas coast, I knew I wanted to begin in Galveston with a visit to Moody Gardens and, especially, the Tropical Rainforest Pyramid.

TRAVELING TO GALVESTON, TEXAS

When we decided to take a road trip along the Texas Coast, I knew I wanted to start in Galveston. I had not been there in over 30 years and I had always wanted to visit Moody Gardens.  It was also one of the closest beaches to Arkansas and we headed out with storm warnings in the forecast.

When you are traveling with a 7 month old, you have to make extra pit stops.  We stopped at a very nice and clean rest stop.  It was one of the best maintained rest stops I have visited.  There was also a nice play area for children.

MAGNOLIA MARKET ~ Waco, Texas

After my detour to see the Magnolia House in McGregor, Texas, I headed to the Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas.

If you are not familiar with Magnolia House and Magnolia Market, they belong to Chip and Joanna Gains' from the show Fixer Upper. Let me encourage  you to check them out if you love decorating, real estate, or DIY projects.

We arrived about 4 pm so it wasn't crowded and we found parking close by.  Speaking of parking, there is not a designated parking lot like you would see at most stores.  You will need to parallel park on the street and there was a nearby parking lot that had several free spaces to park.

Magnolia Market was easy to find and the streets were easy to navigate.

If you happen to be near Waco, stop by and see the place.

I may have done a little shopping while there.

For those of you who haven't been there yet, here is peak of what you will find in the shop. They also have an online store if you can't make the trip or just like to couch shop  like me.

TIPS

There is really not much advice have for visiting Magnolia Market.  It's easy to locate and easy to find parking nearby.  I did a google search of the area (like I always advise you to do before traveling to a new location) to check out the surroundings.  Of course, the silos were easy to spot.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS ~ RIVERWALK

I know many of you will find this shocking, but I had never been to San Antonio, Texas!

I live near the Arkansas/Texas border and have explored quite a bit of Texas over the years, but somehow I had never made it to San Antonio.

I had also never traveled along the Texas Gulf Coast beyond Galveston, which is one of the reasons I chose the coast for my latest vacation.

VISITING THE ALAMO ~ San Antonio, Texas

I took a few days off work to visit the Texas coast, and on the way home we decided to make a quick stop in San Antonio. Since we only had a short amount of time to spend in the city, we decided to visit two of San Antonio's most famous attractions—the Alamo and the River Walk.
